Washington Goes Purple Movie Night: Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire

Kicking off the month, Washington Goes Purple invites residents to an outdoor movie night on Friday, October 4th at University Plaza. The feature film, Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, will be screened at 7:00 PM with free admission for all. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs to enjoy a cozy evening under the stars.

For craft enthusiasts, Fiber Fest on Saturday, October 5th offers a unique experience at University Plaza. Starting at 9:00 AM, this event brings together fiber vendors, demonstrations, and opportunities to connect with other fiber lovers. Whether you’re a seasoned expert or just beginning, the event promises plenty of opportunities to learn, shop, and engage in all things fiber.

City Park Ghost Tours

As the Halloween spirit intensifies, Hagerstown’s historic Hager House will be the venue for ghost tours throughout October. On Friday, October 11th and Saturday, October 19th, join a one-hour indoor tour of Hager House ($15) or explore the eerie legends of City Park with a walking tour ($10). Both tours are offered at 7:00 and 8:00 PM, with limited availability. Reservations can be made online at www.hagerhouse.org, and participants must be ages 10 and older.

Harvest Hoedown and Community Yard Sale

For those looking for family fun, Fairgrounds Park will host two events on Saturday, October 12th. The annual Community Yard Sale will begin at 7:00 AM, featuring 72 stalls filled with yard sale treasures. Later that day, from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM, the Harvest Hoedown will take place, offering pumpkin painting, a petting zoo, pony rides, and more. Hub City Wrestling Classic and Paranormal Investigation

On Saturday, October 19th, Voltage Wrestling brings its Hub City Wrestling Classic to University Plaza at 6:00 PM. Dog lovers won’t want to miss the Howl-O-Ween Dog Costume Parade on Saturday, October 26th at Fairgrounds Park. Starting at 11:00 AM, the event will feature six prize categories and plenty of fun activities for both pets and owners. Early registration is $10, and on-site registration is $15.

Alsatia Mummers’ Parade and Citywide Trick-or-Treating

One of Hagerstown’s oldest traditions, the 97th Alsatia Mummers’ Parade, will take place on Saturday, October 26th at 6:00 PM. This beloved parade features floats, marching bands, and costumed participants making their way through downtown Hagerstown. Reserved seating is available through the Maryland Theatre.

Finally, the citywide Trick-or-Treat will be held on Thursday, October 31st, giving children across Hagerstown a chance to show off their costumes and collect candy from participating homes and businesses.
