We need your help to stay paywall free

We know you value local news and entertainment that is free, open, and independent. Producing high-quality, paywall-free content isn't free. It takes time, effort, and resources to keep you informed and entertained. Unlike corporate media, we don’t have deep-pocketed investors or big advertisers funding our work—we rely on you, our readers and listeners, to keep Radio Free Hub City running. We're literally running on a shoe-string budget, but keep working hard to provide as much news and entertainment as we can.

If just 5% of local area residents became paid supporters at only $5 per month, we could meet our fundraising goals and continue expanding our news coverage depth while continuing to provide free access for everyone. So, if you'd like to help us in our continuing quest to improve our coverage, please consider becoming a paying supporter.

Will you be one of the 5%?

“We encourage every Marylander to make a plan for voting this year, whether they choose to vote early, by mail, or on Election Day,” said Jared DeMarinis, State Administrator of Elections. He also reminded voters to be mindful of registration and voting deadlines and to reach out to the SBE with any questions regarding the election process.

Voting Methods

  • Early Voting: Maryland residents can vote in person between Thursday, October 24, and Thursday, October 31, from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily at designated early voting centers.
  • Mail-In Voting: Voters can request a mail-in ballot through the SBE’s online system. Requests must be received by October 29 for a mail-in ballot to be sent by post, while the deadline for web delivery ballot requests is November 1. Completed mail-in ballots must be postmarked by November 5 and can be returned either by mail or to an official ballot drop box or local elections office by 8 p.m. that day.
  • Election Day Voting: On November 5, polling stations will be open statewide from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. To find the correct polling place, voters can use the SBE’s “Find My Polling Place” tool online.

Registration Deadlines

The deadline to register in advance to vote in the general election is October 15, 2024. Mail-in registrations must be postmarked by that date. Voters can register online or submit a paper form in person at a local board of elections office. Marylanders also have the option to register on Election Day at their polling location with proof of residency.

The state has installed 286 secure ballot drop boxes throughout Maryland, including in Baltimore City. These drop boxes are available for voters who wish to submit their mail-in ballots and will be accessible until 8 p.m. on November 5. The locations of these drop boxes can be found on the SBE’s website.

Further details, including a voting checklist, key deadlines, and information on becoming an election judge or volunteer, are available at the SBE’s VOTE!MD website: vote.md.gov/vote2024.

The SBE continues its efforts to ensure that every eligible Marylander is informed and prepared to participate in this year’s election.
