Brooks, a 24-year-old freestyle wrestler, recently secured the bronze medal in the 86kg category. His rise to Olympic glory has become a source of pride for the Hagerstown community. Mayor Tekesha Martinez emphasized the significance of Brooks’ accomplishments, stating, “Aaron’s just 24, and yet he’s shown us all what can be accomplished when we embrace our roots, our faith, and hard work. His journey is not only the manifestation of an American dream, it’s one that started right here in this city.”

The celebration, aptly named the “Homecoming of Hope,” aims to recognize Brooks not only for his athletic achievements but also for the hope and inspiration he provides to the community. “Aaron is literally a beacon of hope,” said Mayor Martinez. “We saw how easy he was to rally around with the watch parties that popped up for his Olympic wrestling matches, and my hope is that Saturday will be a thousand times that.”
