HAGERSTOWN, MD News (8/14/2024) – The Hagerstown Police Department (HPD) has announced further developments in the ongoing investigation of the shooting incident that occurred on July 28, 2024, on Jefferson Street. Following the initial arrest of Rashawd Clemente, 31, of Hagerstown, additional suspects have now been charged in connection with the event.

On August 6, 2024, Jaleel Holmes, 20, of Hagerstown, was charged while hospitalized at the R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center, where he was being treated for a gunshot wound sustained during the altercation. Holmes faces charges of attempted first and second-degree murder, conspiracy to commit first and second-degree murder, first and second-degree assault, and multiple handgun violations.

In a related development, Holmes’ mother, Schacole Rolle, 36, of Hagerstown, was arrested on August 14, 2024, for her involvement in the incident. Rolle has been charged with the same offenses as her son. HPD extended their gratitude to the Baltimore and West Virginia field offices of the United States Marshal Service for their assistance in apprehending Rolle.
The incident, which transpired on the evening of July 28, 2024, began with a dispute involving all three individuals. The confrontation escalated to gunfire, resulting in Holmes being wounded. Officers responded to reports of shots fired at approximately 7:10 PM in the 300 block of Jefferson Street. Subsequently, the injured Holmes was taken to Meritus Medical Center and later transferred to the R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center, where his injuries were deemed non-life-threatening.

Prior to these recent arrests, Rashawd Clemente was apprehended on August 1, 2024, for his role in the shooting. Clemente, believed to be involved in a targeted altercation with Holmes, was charged with attempted first and second-degree murder, first and second-degree assault, and various firearms violations.
