Expanded Allegiant Flight Schedule

Responding to increased demand, HGR has expanded its Allegiant flight schedule. Flights to popular destinations like Myrtle Beach, Orlando/Sanford, and St. Pete/Clearwater will see a nearly 40% increase compared to 2023, totaling approximately 300 flights for the year. This summer, passengers can expect up to 10 weekly flights, offering more convenience and flexibility for travelers.

Taxiway F Enhancement

A major component of the airport’s improvement plan is the enhancement of Taxiway F. Supported by a 90% Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) grant, this project involves relocating part of Taxiway F to improve its lateral distance from the primary Runway 09-27. The project also includes rehabilitating the asphalt pavement and installing new LED lights and signs. These upgrades are designed to enhance pilot visibility and guidance, thereby improving overall safety.

Runway 09-27 Lighting & Signage Upgrade

Runway 09-27 will undergo a significant lighting and signage upgrade, also primarily funded by a 90% FAA grant. This project will replace outdated incandescent bulbs with energy-efficient LED lights and signs. The new installations are expected to reduce energy consumption and improve runway visibility, benefiting both sustainability and operational safety.

Taxiway C Object Free Area Improvement

Improving the safety of Taxiway C is another priority. This project, backed by a 90% FAA grant, involves paving a strip of asphalt near the West Apron and T-Hangar Access Areas. Enhanced markings will address a movement “Hot Spot” at the intersection of West Apron, Taxiway A, and Taxiway C, mitigating potential hazards and ensuring safer navigation for airport users.

Terminal Roof Repairs

The terminal will also see crucial repairs to its roof, including the installation of a new gutter system and redirection of roof drainage to prevent water infiltration. Additionally, exterior painting will enhance both the aesthetics and weatherproofing of the building, ensuring its structural integrity and improving passenger comfort.

Terminal Area Signage Enhancement

To further enhance the terminal area, new entrance signage, awnings, and improvements to gutters and downspouts are planned. These enhancements will not only improve the aesthetics but also the functionality of the terminal, providing a more welcoming and efficient environment for passengers.

Airfield Painting

Operational efficiency and safety will be bolstered through airfield painting projects. These include adding black outlines to primary runway markings, removing rubber buildup, and repainting some markings on Taxiway Papa.

Runway Visibility Zone / Runway Object Free Zone Project

A critical security and safety initiative, this project involves the demolition of outdated structures within the Runway Object Free Area and Visibility Zone. New perimeter fence segments and gates will be installed to enhance security and facilitate the use of Crosswind Runway 02-20, especially during times when the Air Traffic Control Tower is closed. This project is also supported by a 90% FAA grant.

Air Park Road Utility Expansion

A transformative project funded entirely by a Maryland Commerce Grant, the Air Park Road Utility Expansion will extend utilities along Air Park Road, improving the development condition of the Airfield Northwest Quadrant. This project aims to attract businesses and foster economic growth. Additionally, a new digital LED airport sign will be installed to enhance the airport’s visibility to Interstate 81 travelers, promoting HGR services and local businesses.

These comprehensive upgrades reflect Hagerstown Regional Airport’s commitment to advancing its infrastructure and solidifying its role as a key aviation and commerce hub in the region.
