Subsequent to the issuance of a search warrant by the MCPD, an examination of Ye’s possessions revealed internet search histories, as well as drawings and documents centered around the theme of threats of mass violence.

In response to these developments, the Montgomery County Department of Police – Community Engagement Division collaborated with Montgomery County Public Schools to enhance security measures, with particular emphasis on fortifying the security protocols at Wootton High School.

Ye has been apprehended and is facing charges of threats of mass violence. Presently, Ye is being detained at the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit pending a bond hearing.

A scheduled news conference is slated for Friday, April 19, where further details regarding the case will be provided. Specifics regarding the time and location of the conference will be communicated via a forthcoming media advisory from MCPD.
