Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC is initiating a voluntary safety recall affecting a significant number of mild hybrid electric vehicles. The recall encompasses several Land Rover and Jaguar models manufactured between 2019 and 2024, with a total of 23,677 vehicles potentially involved across the United States and Federalized Territories. The identified defect centers on the vehicle’s DCDC converter, which could malfunction due to insufficient electrical load balancing during periods of high demand or a software bug that may prevent it from functioning at vehicle start-up.

The affected models include the 2021-2024 Land Rover Range Rover Velar, with 76 vehicles subject to the recall; the 2019-2024 Land Rover Range Rover Sport, encompassing 10,973 vehicles; the 2020-2024 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque, affecting 35 vehicles; and the 2020-2024 Land Rover Range Rover, with 3,849 vehicles involved. Additionally, the recall extends to the 2021-2024 Jaguar F-PACE, involving 79 vehicles; the 2021-2024 Jaguar E-PACE, with 10 vehicles; the 2020-2024 Land Rover Discovery Sport, affecting 3 vehicles; the 2021-2024 Land Rover Discovery, with 552 vehicles; and the 2020-2024 Land Rover Defender, encompassing 8,100 vehicles. The recall population was determined through a combination of field data analysis and artificial intelligence modeling, specifically targeting mild hybrid electric vehicles (MHEVs) produced up to the end of the 2024 model year, excluding those with an earlier specification of the DCDC converter already addressed in previous recalls (D126 or H575).
A failure of the DCDC converter can result in the loss of 12V system charging, triggering a “Stop Safely Electrical Fault Detected” warning. If a driver continues to operate the vehicle after this warning, it could lead to a loss of motive power and the vehicle coasting to a stop. Furthermore, the vehicle’s exterior lighting could eventually fail. The loss of motive power or lighting significantly increases the risk of a crash. The recall also notes a software bug that, under specific circumstances at vehicle start-up, could cause the DCDC converter to cease functioning, leading to the same loss of 12V system charging and subsequent warnings.
Jaguar Land Rover will be contacting dealers to notify them of the recall on or around October 1, 2026. Owners of the affected vehicles can expect to receive notification letters on or before November 13, 2026. The manufacturer has not reported any accidents, injuries, or fires in the United States related to this issue, though 393 claims and field reports have been received between April 2024 and September 2026. The remedy for this recall involves a software update designed to ensure adequate load balancing during high demand and to correct the start-up stability bug. This update will also introduce a protective “limp-home” mode, which will provide a warning followed by a power reduction if the DCDC converter goes offline for any reason. This repair will be provided to owners at no cost.
