During the event, Abraham “Abe” Perez, III of Middletown Valley Bank, the outgoing Board Chair, formally passed the gavel to the incoming Board Chair for fiscal year 2027, Chuck Eichelberger of Tele-Plus Corporation. Eichelberger, a lifelong resident of Washington County, brings extensive experience to his new role. He has been a member of the Chamber’s board of directors since 2021 and currently serves as the Regional Sales Manager at Tele-Plus Corporation. His professional background includes three decades in the financial industry, and he has actively participated in community service through board memberships with the United Way of Washington County and the YMCA of Hagerstown. Eichelberger is also affiliated with the Hagerstown Lions Club, Hagerstown Rotary, and is a graduate of Leadership Washington County, Class 32.

The Chamber also took the opportunity to recognize departing board members, Julie Rohm of Valley Mall and Mary Ellen Waltemire of One Step Closer Coaching, for their contributions. Additionally, the Distinguished Service Award was presented to several individuals and organizations for their significant impact on the community. Honorees included Herb Melrath from the Maryland Small Business Development Center; John Krumpotich and Joyce Johnson of Cascade Properties LLC; Jim Kercheval and Erin Griemsmann from The Greater Hagerstown Committee; Kevin Crawford and Justin Burnett of Hagerstown Community College; and Kim Harbaugh, Helen Huffer, Adam Parry, and Tonya Rowe, representing Washington County Public Schools. These awards underscore the chamber’s dedication to acknowledging those who drive progress and betterment within Washington County. The Washington County Chamber of Commerce represents over 660 organizations, supporting more than 40,000 local jobs across a diverse range of sectors including retail, manufacturing, healthcare, skilled trades, service and hospitality, technology, government, nonprofit, and education.
