News that should be satire – the following is written about real events, but with a heavy dose of sarcasm and wit.
In a development that’s sure to raise eyebrows and perhaps a few severed heads (figuratively, of course), U.S. Capitol Police recently apprehended an individual found in possession of a rather archaic piece of execution equipment. According to a press release from the U.S. Capitol Police, officers patrolling the vicinity of East Capitol Street on August 25, 2026, stumbled upon a rather alarming sight: a guillotine, quite literally resting in the bed of a pickup truck. The discovery was made just after 3:00 p.m., adding a touch of dramatic timing to the already peculiar incident.
The vehicle itself was reportedly parked illegally, an offense that apparently led to the more significant discovery. One can only imagine the sheer bewilderment of the officers as they approached the offending truck, beholding a contraption that conjures images of revolutionary France rather than the modern-day political landscape of Washington D.C. The individual behind the wheel, identified as 35-year-old Philan-Tam-Duy Le of Julian, California, was subsequently arrested. His alleged offense? Carrying a dangerous weapon, which, in this instance, was the aforementioned guillotine. This certainly puts a new spin on the phrase “California dreamin’.”

The suspect’s journey from the Golden State to the nation’s capital is, to put it mildly, a topic of great interest for investigators. U.S. Capitol Police are reportedly delving into Mr. Le’s background, endeavoring to unravel the mystery of his motivations for bringing such a historically grim instrument to a place where political discourse, one would hope, is conducted with less… finality. The current findings suggest a cross-country pilgrimage with a rather peculiar objective, leaving the public to ponder what exactly one does with a guillotine in Washington D.C., and whether this incident signals a growing trend in dramatic protest methods or simply a very, very bad road trip. For residents of the nation’s capital, this serves as a stark reminder that while security is ever-present, sometimes the most unusual threats emerge from the most unexpected places, and from individuals who have clearly taken a very long drive to make their point.
