Frederick Police Seek Help Identifying Suspects in Barn Arson Investigation

The Frederick Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying two individuals believed to be involved in a barn fire that is being investigated as arson. The incident occurred on the evening of August 8, 2026, in the area of Stoddert Alley and Atlas Drive.

According to information released by the Frederick Police Department, officers responded to the location to provide assistance to fire personnel who were addressing a barn fire. Following an initial assessment, the fire was determined to be the result of arson. Detectives from the Frederick Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division have taken the lead on the investigation and are collaborating with the Frederick County Fire Marshal’s Office. Investigators have reviewed surveillance footage that reportedly shows two males in the vicinity of the barn shortly before the fire erupted.

Frederick Police did not include any photos as part of the announcement, but did provide descriptions. The first individual depicted in the surveillance footage is described as a Black male wearing a purple T-shirt and blue jean shorts. The second individual is described as a white male with shoulder-length hair, dressed in a red shirt, black pants, and dark-colored shoes that resemble Crocs. Detectives are appealing to anyone who may recognize either of these individuals or possess any information relevant to the investigation to come forward.
