Frederick, MD – The Frederick Police Department is investigating a shooting incident that occurred early Sunday morning, August 9, 2026, resulting in injuries to two individuals. Authorities responded to the 100 block of Pennsylvania Avenue around 2:43 a.m. after receiving reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers discovered an adult female who had sustained a gunshot wound. Shortly thereafter, a juvenile male presented at a local hospital with a gunshot wound, which was also determined to be from the same incident. In addition to the Pennsylvania Avenue incident, officers were dispatched to the first block of West 6th Street at approximately 3:23 a.m. in response to a separate report of shots fired. While officers confirmed that shots were indeed discharged in this area, no victims were found. The Frederick Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division is actively investigating both incidents and is working to establish any potential connection between them.

Detectives are appealing to the public for assistance, specifically asking any residents or individuals who were in the vicinity of Pennsylvania Avenue or West 6th Street during the early morning hours of August 9 to review any available security footage. This includes doorbell cameras, private security systems, and other surveillance recordings. Investigators are particularly interested in any footage that may show suspicious activity, individuals, vehicles, or any other details that could aid the investigation.
