Members of the Boys & Girls Club of Washington County recently engaged in a unique three-day experience known as Camp Guardian, held from June 29 to July 1 at Greenbrier State Park. This initiative, organized by the Maryland Department of Natural Resources Police in collaboration with the Maryland State Police, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, and the Hagerstown Police Department, aimed to cultivate positive connections between local youth and law enforcement officials.

The program facilitated interactions through a series of engaging activities, educational sessions, and public safety demonstrations. During their time at the park, Club members and law enforcement officers participated together in games, hands-on learning opportunities, and team-building exercises designed to foster a fun and supportive atmosphere.
Key highlights of Camp Guardian included an appearance by a Maryland State Police helicopter, demonstrations by local K-9 units, and boat excursions on Greenbrier Lake. These experiences offered the young participants a direct look into various public safety operations while creating memorable moments for all involved. The Boys & Girls Club of Washington County, which serves approximately 700 youth annually between the ages of 6 and 18, operates four after-school programs and summer camps in Hagerstown and one site in Frostburg. The organization is dedicated to empowering young people to become productive, caring, and responsible citizens.
