Frederick Police Announce Arrests in Homicide Investigation

The Frederick Police Department has charged two individuals in connection with the death of Amy Press Burdette, a 63-year-old woman found deceased in her apartment at 807 Stratford Way on July 1, 2026. According to an announcement from the department, arrest warrants have been issued for April Marie Evans, born March 10, 1999, and Dennis Carl Bonenberger, born October 28, 1989. Both are facing charges of 1st Degree Murder.

The investigation was initiated when officers responded to the Stratford Way apartment for a report of a CPR in progress. Upon arrival, they discovered the deceased victim. Detectives quickly determined that the incident was not random, as both suspects were known to the victim. Currently, Evans and Bonenberger are being held in custody outside of Frederick County on unrelated charges. The Frederick County arrest warrants have been filed as detainers and will be processed as the legal proceedings permit.

While charges have now been filed, the Frederick Police Department has stated that the investigation remains active, and no further details will be released at this time. Investigators believe the incident occurred in the early morning hours of June 14, 2026, with the critical timeframe for the crime estimated to be between approximately 4:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. Detectives are specifically appealing to residents of 807 Stratford Way, neighboring apartment buildings, and anyone who was in the vicinity during that time. They are requesting that these individuals review any available doorbell, security, or surveillance camera footage recorded between approximately 3:30 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. on June 14.
