Martinsburg, West Virginia – A formal change of command ceremony was held on June 13 at Shepherd Field, marking the transition of leadership for the 167th Airlift Wing. Colonel Randall Wright has assumed command of the wing, succeeding Colonel Christopher Sigler, who had held the position since January 2025.

The presiding official for the ceremony, Brigadier General David Cochran, Assistant Adjutant General for Air in the West Virginia National Guard, acknowledged Colonel Sigler’s service and expressed confidence in Colonel Wright’s capabilities to lead the wing forward. Colonel Wright brings extensive experience to his new role, having previously served as the 167th Operations Group commander.

Colonel Wright’s career with the 167th Airlift Wing began in 1998 when he enlisted in the 167th Aerial Port Squadron. He was commissioned as an officer six years later and subsequently earned his pilot wings. Throughout his service, he has flown C-5 A/B and C-17 A aircraft and has held various leadership positions, including conversion budget officer, chief of safety, executive officer, squadron commander, and group commander.
