Approximately 321,360 Wyze Solar Cam Pan security cameras are subject to a recall due to a significant fire and burn risk, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). The recall stems from incorrect assembly instructions that can lead consumers to inadvertently puncture the lithium-ion battery’s metal casing. This puncture can cause the battery to overheat rapidly, posing a serious threat of fire and burns to users and potentially causing property damage.

The affected products are lithium-ion battery-operated outdoor security cameras featuring motorized pan-and-tilt functionality and an integrated solar panel. The model number for the recalled units is WYZESCPWH, which can be found on the back of the camera. These cameras were sold in white. Wyze Labs, the importer based in Kirkland, Washington, has been involved in this recall, which was conducted in conjunction with Canadian authorities due to approximately 2,560 units sold in Canada. The cameras were available for purchase from October 2025 through April 2026 at retailers including Home Depot and Micro Center, as well as online through Wyze’s own website, Temu, Amazon, B2B Renew, Inc., ReturnPro, and Best Buy. The approximate retail price was $80.
Consumers who have purchased the Wyze Solar Cam Pan security camera are urged to immediately stop using the device. To determine if your specific unit is affected, you should visit http://www.wyze.com/SCPrecall or the company’s main website, Wyze.com, and navigate to the “Recalls” section. The recall specifically applies to all consumers who used the long, flat-head screw to install the solar panel on top of the camera. If you are unsure about the type of screw used during installation, detailed guidance and identification assistance are available on the company’s website. Wyze Labs is offering affected consumers several options for resolution, including a free replacement camera with a solar panel accessory, a full refund for the original purchase price, or a gift card for the same amount to be used on the Wyze website. Regardless of the chosen remedy, consumers will be required to confirm that they have disposed of the recalled camera properly.
The CPSC advises that recalled lithium-ion batteries require specific disposal procedures and should not be discarded in regular household trash, standard recycling bins, or general used battery recycling boxes found at retail stores. Due to their heightened fire risk, these batteries must be handled as hazardous waste. Consumers are encouraged to contact their local municipal household hazardous waste (HHW) collection center to inquire about their acceptance of recalled lithium-ion batteries or devices. It is recommended to call the HHW center in advance to confirm their policies. If a local HHW center does not accept the recalled item, consumers should seek further guidance from their municipality.
The recall comes after Wyze Labs received 13 reports of the security cameras overheating. Six of these reports involved the cameras exploding and catching fire. Additionally, six consumers reported sustaining minor burns as a result of these incidents.
