The alleged incident occurred on April 2, 2026, at a security checkpoint within BWI Airport. Court documents indicate that Queen forcibly assaulted the two TSA lead transportation security officers and hindered their ability to carry out their security duties. Surveillance footage presented in court also suggests that prior to the confrontation with TSA officers, Queen is accused of attacking a bystander and their two children, and subsequently attempting to attack another bystander. The indictment represents accusations, and individuals charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
If convicted of the charges, Cornelius Queen could face a maximum of 18 years in federal prison. Federal sentencing is determined by a judge, considering federal sentencing guidelines and other statutory factors, and actual sentences are often less than the maximum penalties. The investigation and subsequent indictment were a collaborative effort involving the FBI Baltimore Field Office, the TSA, and the Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) Police. Assistant U.S. Attorney Ty Pittinger is prosecuting the federal case.
