Approximately 1,000 Giantex and Costway portable steam saunas have been recalled by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission due to a burn hazard. The saunas, sold between January 2023 and December 2025, pose a risk when the steam diffuser can be positioned too close to a user’s body, allowing hot steam to make contact and cause burns. Consumers have reported incidents of burns to extremities, including one instance of a second-degree burn.

The recalled products are part of a set that includes a folding chair, foot roller, felt mat, and remote control. The steam unit connects to an enclosure via tubing, with an opening for the user’s head to remain outside. The enclosures were offered in various colors, including black, copper, beige, blue, green, and pink, and are branded with either “Giantex” or “Costway” imprinted on the front. Specific model numbers and SKUs associated with the recall are listed on the product’s packaging. These saunas were sold online through platforms such as Amazon and Walmart for prices ranging from $68 to $100.
Giantex Inc., based in Ontario, California, is the distributor for these units, which were manufactured in China. Consumers who purchased these portable steam saunas are instructed to immediately cease using the product. To receive a full refund, customers must contact Giantex and follow specific instructions for product destruction. This involves unplugging the steam unit, cutting its cord, and then submitting a photograph of the destroyed product via email or through a dedicated recall notice page on the Giantex website.
