The affected products are identified as VEEKTOMX VT103 Small Portable Charger Mini Power Banks, available in white, pink, or purple. Consumers can identify the recalled units by the model number “VT103” imprinted on the back and the absence of a serial number in the bottom right corner of the back of the device. It is important to note that VT03 power banks displaying a serial number are not part of this recall. Shenzhen Baihang has reported three instances of fires associated with these power banks, resulting in minor property damage, though no injuries have been reported to date.
Consumers who have purchased these power banks are urged to immediately cease using them. To receive a free replacement power bank, individuals must contact Shenzhen Baihang to confirm their unit is part of the recall. Further information and contact details can be found by visiting veektomx.com and navigating to the “Important Recall Information” section or by emailing recall@veektomx.com.
The recall also provides specific guidance on the disposal of recalled lithium-ion batteries. These batteries should not be discarded in regular trash, street-level or curbside recycling bins, or general used battery recycling boxes. Due to their increased fire risk, recalled lithium-ion batteries require special handling. Consumers are advised to contact their municipal household hazardous waste (HHW) collection center to inquire about their acceptance of such batteries. If the HHW center does not accept them, individuals should seek further guidance from their municipality.
The importer of these power banks is Shenzhen Baihang Technology Co., Ltd., which is based in China, where the products were manufactured. This recall is part of a broader effort by the CPSC to ensure consumer product safety, with the agency working to protect the public from unreasonable risks of injury associated with a wide array of consumer products.
