The window for requesting an absentee ballot by mail is open from April 17, 2026, to May 27, 2026. This applies to all eligible voters, including those serving overseas or in the military. Mail-in absentee ballots, once completed, can be hand-delivered to Town Hall until June 1, 2026. For those relying on postal service, absentee ballots received without a postmark will be accepted up to June 3, 2026, and those postmarked on Election Day, June 2, will be accepted through June 8, 2026. All absentee ballot requests and completed ballots should be addressed to Shepherdstown Town Hall, P.O. Box 248, Shepherdstown, WV 25443. Several important deadlines fall in April 2026. Election officials and their alternates are scheduled to be appointed by April 14, 2026. The same date, April 14, serves as the deadline for any write-in candidates wishing to file their candidacy.
