Washington County Parks and Recreation has announced a significant renovation project for Woodland Way Park, commencing with the temporary closure of the park’s playground on March 11, 2026. This closure will allow for the removal of existing equipment and the subsequent installation of new play structures, aimed at enhancing the recreational experience for county residents. The planned upgrades to Woodland Way Park are set to introduce two distinct modular play structures, specifically designed to cater to different age groups, ensuring a safe and engaging environment for all children. In addition to these main structures, the park will also feature new swings and a combined climber and spinner. While the final appearance may see minor deviations from initial conceptual designs, the overall vision will be closely adhered to, promising a revitalized play area for families.
The phased approach to the park’s improvements will unfold over the course of 2026. Following the playground installation, which is scheduled for late March to early April, an Earth Day tree planting event is slated for April 22. Further enhancements include the installation of a pavilion, expected to be completed between May and June, and the repaving of pathways in the fall. These ongoing improvements underscore Washington County Parks and Recreation’s dedication to maintaining and enhancing accessible, safe, and engaging recreational spaces for families within the county. The department encourages residents to stay informed about the project’s progress and to participate in upcoming community events associated with the park’s development.
