Honda is initiating a safety recall affecting over 65,000 electric vehicles, including the 2024 Acura ZDX and the 2024 Honda Prologue, due to potential software defects. According to a report submitted to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), these defects could cause the instrument cluster and the central infotainment display to intermittently go blank while the vehicle is in operation. The recall, designated as NHTSA Recall No. 26V112, impacts 19,573 Acura ZDX models produced between December 19, 2023, and January 22, 2025, and 45,562 Honda Prologue models manufactured from October 10, 2023, to December 21, 2024.

The identified issue stems from six independent software flaws within the vehicle’s Radio Control Module. These defects can independently trigger a processing error, preventing the module from correctly transmitting data to the instrument cluster and infotainment display. This can result in a system restart or crash, causing both displays to become inoperable. The consequence of this malfunction is a loss of critical vehicle information for the driver, including speed, warning lights, and other essential indicators. Furthermore, when the infotainment screen goes blank, the driver may lose the rearview camera feed, significantly impairing rearward visibility, especially when reversing. This lack of immediate information and reduced visibility elevates the risk of a crash or injury.

Honda began investigating the issue on June 3, 2024, after receiving notification. The investigation involved extensive analysis and troubleshooting, including attempts to replicate the problem, which continued through May 2025. By December 18, 2025, information had emerged pointing to six distinct software issues. Honda ultimately determined on February 19, 2026, that a safety defect existed, necessitating the recall. As of February 19, 2026, Honda has received 148 warranty claims related to this issue. No reports of injuries or deaths associated with this defect have been filed.

The remedy for affected vehicles will involve a software update. Owners of the recalled Acura ZDX and Honda Prologue models will be contacted by mail and advised to bring their vehicles to an authorized Honda or Acura dealership. Technicians will then update the vehicle’s Radio Control Module with revised software designed to correct the defects. The updated software was implemented into production for the Honda Prologue starting January 11, 2025. The Acura ZDX was discontinued after the 2024 model year, so its production vehicles will require the dealer-performed software update. Honda utilizes a general reimbursement plan on file for any related expenses owners may incur.

Dealer notifications for this recall are scheduled to commence and conclude on or about February 27, 2026. Owner notifications are slated to begin on or about April 20, 2026, with a phased recall approach. Owners will be able to check if their specific vehicle is included in this recall by VIN on a date to be announced. The manufacturer advises owners of affected vehicles not to drive them and to park them outdoors until the software update can be performed.
