The National Weather Service anticipates heavy snow accumulation, with total amounts expected to range between 3 and 6 inches across the affected areas. For higher elevations, specifically those above 1,000 feet, snow accumulations could be significantly greater, with forecasts calling for 6 to 12 inches. In addition to the snow, strong winds are expected, with gusts potentially reaching up to 35 miles per hour. These conditions are predicted to make travel very difficult and could notably impact the Monday morning commute.
Areas included in the Winter Storm Warning are Washington, Frederick in Maryland, Northwest Montgomery in Maryland, Clarke in Virginia, Western Loudoun in Virginia, Eastern Loudoun in Virginia, Morgan in West Virginia, Berkeley in West Virginia, and Jefferson in West Virginia.
Residents who must travel during the warning period are advised to take precautions. It is recommended to keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle to prepare for potential emergencies. For the most current road conditions specific to your state, the National Weather Service advises calling 511.
