National Weather Service Issues Winter Weather Advisory for Western MD and WV Panhandle

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory until 8 PM this evening for the Hagerstown area, as well as a Hazardous Weather Outlook statement for the rest of the week.

Area residents should expect mixed precipitation. Total snow accumulations of 1 to 2 inches and ice accumulations of a light glaze in portions of north central Maryland, northwest and western Virginia and eastern West Virginia.

Slow down and use caution while traveling. Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the evening commute.

When venturing outside, watch your first few steps taken on steps, sidewalks, and driveways, which could be icy and slippery, increasing your risk of a fall and injury.

The Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of eastern West Virginia, northern and central Virginia, and central and western Maryland.

A Freeze Watch is in effect for parts of Virginia and West Virginia late Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. Frost may impact the rest of the area late Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.
