From November 14, 2022, through July 9, 2024, Worthy was employed as a Child Support Specialist with PGCSA, primarily working remotely from her home in Howard County. During her tenure, she allegedly submitted numerous timesheets claiming to be working for PGCSA when, in fact, she was employed by two other, undisclosed outside jobs. An examination of her state-issued timesheets revealed approximately 350 instances where her claimed work hours conflicted with her outside employment. In multiple instances, Worthy reportedly claimed to be working all three jobs simultaneously on the same dates.
As a result of her conviction for felony theft of an amount between $25,000 and $100,000, Worthy received a sentence of twenty days of incarceration. Following her release, she will be subject to five years of supervised probation. Any violation of this probation could lead to an additional sentence of up to 4 years and 11 months of incarceration. The court also mandated that Worthy repay $42,000 to the State of Maryland. The Attorney General’s office emphasized that this fraudulent activity not only constitutes theft of taxpayer money but also undermines the integrity of public service and the efforts of dedicated state employees.
