The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for Washington County, with forecasts indicating considerable snowfall, dangerous travel conditions, reduced visibility, and the possibility of widespread power outages. County departments are actively monitoring the developing weather situation and have teams prepared to address potential impacts. In preparation for the storm, residents are advised to limit non-essential travel once snowfall begins, maintain emergency kits stocked with necessary supplies, and stay informed through official county channels. These channels include the Washington County Government website, local news organizations, and the county’s official social media platforms, which will provide ongoing weather updates and emergency information.
Residents experiencing power outages are instructed to report them directly to their utility provider and are reminded not to contact 911 for such issues. The county also encourages individuals to check on their neighbors, particularly elderly residents, those with disabilities, and individuals who may have limited resources during the inclement weather. Further updates regarding the storm and any evolving emergency measures will be disseminated by Washington County Government as conditions change. To receive direct emergency and weather alerts on their mobile devices, residents can subscribe by texting “WashCoMD” to 226787.
