Baez had previously pleaded guilty to one count of possession with intent to distribute 40 grams or more of fentanyl. The investigation into his activities included controlled purchases of fentanyl, during which he was found to have sold approximately seven grams of the dangerous substance to a confidential source. Following these transactions, law enforcement executed a search warrant at Baez’s residence.
