Clear Spring, MD – An accidental chimney fire on January 20, 2026, at approximately 4:48 AM, resulted in one resident being displaced from their home at 14717 Saint Paul Road in Clear Spring, Maryland. The blaze, which spread from the chimney to the exterior of the two-story single-family residence, caused an estimated $75,000 in damage to the structure and $50,000 to its contents.
The Clear Spring Volunteer Fire Company responded to the incident, with 55 firefighters on the scene and the fire brought under control within one hour. The homeowner discovered the fire. While the status of smoke alarms in the residence is unknown, there were no reported injuries or deaths associated with the incident. The preliminary investigation indicates the fire was accidental in nature, originating from the chimney. The Office of the State Fire Marshal is the agency that released this information, dedicated to protecting citizens through education, inspection, investigation, and fire protection engineering.
