To be considered for this role, candidates must possess West Virginia law enforcement certification or be eligible for it. A valid West Virginia driver’s license is also required, along with the ability to meet all physical, background, and drug-screening requirements set forth by the department. Successful applicants will demonstrate strong communication skills and a commitment to ethical and professional policing practices.
The responsibilities of a full-time police officer in Shepherdstown include enforcing local, state, and federal laws, responding to calls for service and emergency situations, and conducting regular patrols and investigations. Community engagement and public service are also key aspects of the role, as is the accurate completion of reports and other administrative duties.
