The advisory means that all water used for drinking, cooking, and preparing food should be brought to a rolling boil for at least one minute and then allowed to cool before consumption. This measure is a standard procedure following disruptions to the water system to eliminate potential contaminants. The duration of the advisory is expected to be between 24 to 48 hours. This timeframe is contingent upon the results of laboratory tests that will confirm the water’s safety for public use. The city will issue a notice to lift the advisory once these tests are completed and results are deemed satisfactory. Residents will be informed when it is safe to resume normal water usage.
