The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is providing enhanced incentives for undocumented immigrants to voluntarily depart the United States. Through the end of the year, individuals who register for self-deportation via the CBP Home app will be eligible for a $3,000 stipend and a complimentary flight back to their home country. This initiative aims to facilitate voluntary departures and provide a pathway for those in the U.S. without authorization to leave the country.

The CBP Home app streamlines the process for individuals choosing to self-deport. By downloading the app and completing the necessary information, participants can arrange and have their travel expenses covered by DHS. Additionally, individuals who utilize the CBP Home app for their departure will have any civil fines or penalties associated with failing to depart the country waived. This program offers a financial incentive and removes certain administrative burdens for those who choose to leave voluntarily.
According to DHS, the program has seen significant engagement, with millions of individuals voluntarily self-deporting since the beginning of 2025, and tens of thousands utilizing the CBP Home program. The current holiday season marks a special increase in the incentive, with the voluntary departure bonus being tripled to $3,000, available only until December 31st. DHS has indicated that individuals who do not take advantage of this offer may face apprehension and deportation, with a permanent ban on future re-entry into the United States. The department emphasizes that self-deportation through the CBP Home app is presented as a convenient and cost-free option for those wishing to return to their home countries.
