A single-vehicle fire occurred on Greencastle Pike in Hagerstown on December 23, 2025, according to a notice from the Office of the State Fire Marshal. The incident, which was discovered by the operator of the vehicle at approximately 6:54 a.m., involved a 2021 Freightliner. The fire was contained to the sleeper bed area of the truck.

Responding to the scene was the Williamsport Volunteer Fire & EMS, with six firefighters extinguishing the blaze. The fire was brought under control in approximately five minutes. Preliminary findings indicate the cause of the fire was accidental. No injuries or deaths were reported as a result of the incident. The estimated financial loss due to the fire is $20,000 for the vehicle and $100 for its contents. The investigation into the fire is ongoing. The Office of the State Fire Marshal, an agency of the Department of State Police, focuses on preventing fire and explosion incidents through education, inspection, investigation, and fire protection engineering.
