The suspect, identified as Elvin Elgardo Ramos-Caballero, was charged with hit and run in connection with the death of Mora Gerety on November 11, 2025. ICE reported that Ramos-Caballero had previously entered the United States in September 2015 and was released into the country under the Obama administration’s policies. He subsequently failed to appear for a scheduled immigration hearing and was ordered removed from the U.S. in absentia on May 9, 2016. Further complicating the matter, the suspect had been issued a driver’s license by the state of Oregon.
ICE agents arrested Ramos-Caballero on November 11, 2025.
