In addition to the positive financial news, the Board of County Commissioners also approved the establishment of a fourth early voting center for the upcoming 2026 election cycle. This new location, the Virginia Avenue Election Center, will serve as an additional early voting site in accordance with state election law. The approval allows for an extra center in counties that fall within the 100,000 to 200,000 registered voter range, provided local governing body and State Board of Elections consent.
The BOCC also authorized the cooperative purchase of a Wheeled Coach 1170 ambulance for the Division of Emergency Services. This acquisition is intended to bolster Emergency Medical Services (EMS) by ensuring continuous operational coverage and optimizing costs through shared procurement. Several other purchase awards across various county departments were also approved during the meeting. Further details on these and other action items can be found by reviewing the full meeting on YouTube.
During the meeting, the Board also recognized Gabby Gatchalian with a Youth Meritorious Award for her exceptional academic achievements, leadership qualities, and significant contributions to her school and community. Gatchalian’s accomplishments include maintaining a 4.0 Grade Point Average, earning an associate’s degree alongside her high school diploma, active participation in honor societies, leadership of a nonprofit organization named Empower, and extensive volunteer work. She was presented with a certificate acknowledging her dedication and exemplary service.
Upcoming meetings for the Board of County Commissioners are scheduled for November 25, 2025, and December 9 and 16, 2025, with regular meetings continuing into January 2026.
