According to the indictment, Dizajgan is accused of using the social media platform TikTok to post content that included photographs and videos of Americans marked with upside-down red triangles. This imagery is reportedly used by Hamas, a designated foreign terrorist organization, in propaganda to identify targets shortly before attacks. In addition to the marked images, Dizajgan allegedly posted threatening comments on his TikTok account. During the same period, his posts reportedly included condemnations of Americans and non-Muslims, alongside celebrations of violence against these groups.
The investigation and subsequent arrest involved a coordinated effort between multiple law enforcement agencies. Key agencies participating in the announcement included the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Baltimore and Jacksonville Field Offices, the Anne Arundel County Police Department, and the Gainesville Police Department. Officials emphasized that threats to the safety and security of citizens are taken seriously and will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. The FBI stated that all potential threats are investigated, and swift collaboration between agencies was instrumental in this case. The arrest is seen as a reflection of the commitment to protecting communities and holding individuals accountable for issuing violent threats online, particularly when they signal support for foreign terrorist organizations.
An indictment is a formal accusation and does not constitute proof of guilt. The defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Maryland commended the efforts of the FBI, the Anne Arundel County Police Department, and the Gainesville Police Department in their investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Christina A. Hoffman is prosecuting the case.
