Maryland State Police are currently investigating a death discovered in a wooded area within Frederick County. The remains, which appeared to be skeletal, were found by officers from the Department of Natural Resources shortly before 4:00 p.m. on November 5, 2025. The precise location of the discovery was in a wooded area near the intersection of I-70 and Green Valley Road. Following the initial discovery, troopers from the Maryland State Police Frederick Barrack took charge of the investigation.

Investigators from the Criminal Enforcement Division and the Homicide Unit were dispatched to the scene. Additionally, crime scene technicians from the Forensic Sciences Division of the Maryland State Police were present to process the area for any relevant evidence. At this time, the identity and gender of the deceased have not been determined. Authorities are awaiting autopsy results from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore to provide further information. Maryland State Police are urging anyone who may possess information pertinent to this ongoing death investigation to come forward. The investigation into this matter is continuing.
