A significant portion of the meeting will be dedicated to acknowledging the seven schools that have been designated as Maryland Blue Ribbon Schools. These institutions were nominated for national recognition prior to the U.S. Department of Education discontinuing its program earlier this year. The newly revitalized Maryland Blue Ribbon program aims to celebrate schools that demonstrate outstanding student performance on both state and national assessments, alongside their success in reducing achievement gaps across diverse student populations.
In addition to the School Report Card and Blue Ribbon School recognitions, the Board will receive updates on critical educational initiatives. These include the progress of comprehensive health education programs across all grade levels, strategies for enhancing student reading support, and advancements in library media services. Furthermore, the Board will provide information regarding Maryland Works and Career Connected Learning opportunities designed to prepare students for future success.
The agenda also includes a stakeholder engagement session where representatives from the Maryland Agricultural Education Foundation and the Maryland Department of Agriculture will participate. This session is intended to foster collaboration and gather input on educational matters relevant to these organizations.
The complete meeting agenda and a livestream of the proceedings will be accessible on the State Department of Education website.
