A West Virginia-based musical group, Mission Road, is making significant strides in the music industry, with two of their songs currently charting nationally and the band receiving consideration for Grammy Awards. Formed in the summer of 2021, the band has rapidly gained recognition for their unique blend of country music infused with elements of pop, roots rock, and Americana. The group’s origins are traced back to Harpers Ferry, West Virginia, where vocalist Christina Alexander and songwriter/keyboardist Simon Elliot first joined forces. The band’s name itself is derived from the street where Alexander resided during the band’s inception.

Mission Road’s current lineup includes Alexander and Elliott, alongside pedal steel guitarist Chris Thompson, bassist Paulie Coconuts, and drummer Dru Broome. Their musical repertoire features a diverse mix of original compositions and cover songs, showcasing their versatility and broad appeal. The band’s debut album, “All I Want to Say,” released in 2024, comprises 13 tracks, with 10 of them penned by Simon. This album is accessible on all major music retail platforms. In addition to their album, Mission Road has released a non-album single titled “Take My Hand,” which officially debuted on April 1, 2025. The inspiration behind “Take My Hand” stems from the vocalist’s personal experience overcoming an abusive relationship.

“We’re a family,” said Alexander in an interview with Radio Free Hub City.

The band has cultivated a robust live performance history, having played hundreds of shows across various regions including the Mid-Atlantic, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, and South Carolina. Their performance venues span a wide array of establishments, from local spots like Spanky Shenanigans in Leesburg, Virginia, and Alfredo’s Grill in Charles Town, West Virginia, to notable music hubs such as Hard Rock and The Wharf in Washington D.C., and Tootsies in Nashville, Tennessee. Mission Road has also participated in larger events like the LoCo Music Fest in Purcellville, Virginia, and the Moonshine Festival in Harpers Ferry, West Virginia. Their presence at music award events, including the Alabama Music Awards and the ISSA Awards in Atlanta, Georgia, further highlights their growing acclaim. An upcoming performance in Branson, Missouri will be furthest the band has travelled together from Harpers Ferry, WV.

Further cementing their presence in the music scene, Mission Road recently returned from Nashville having received an award. They have also been invited to perform at The Troubadour in November for ROPE (Reunion of Professional Entertainers), an organization comprised of established music stars.

The band is currently working in a studio in Martinsburg to record two EPs including a single titled “Shady White Lies” and will likely release one or more singles in January. “Shady White Lies” was written by Keith Bradford. When asked about the process for recording the new tracks, Alexander stated “It’s all about feeling.” Elliott expanded on that remark, that “as the recording progresses you learn more about the song.”

Broome also indicated that for the upcoming single “the lyrics are amazing. I think a lot of people will identify with them.” Broome is a self-taught drummer, who previously played in churches and worship bands. He met Alexander and Elliott at a charity event for veterans.

The band has also been involved in radio appearances, including a show with George Hamilton V, whose father was a veteran of the Grand Ole Opry, and is scheduled for a live radio performance in November in Centerville, TN Minnie Pearl’s hometown.

Looking to the future, the band wants to eventually put together a tour, and even someday tour overseas. When asked where the band wants to take things, Alexander stated “All the way, as far as we can go.”

In addition to their current recording efforts, the band will continue to also play live events, including at the upcoming 2026 Boonsboro Carnival.

“In the studio we’re very serious, but at live events we can touch people’s lives,” stated Alexander. “The journey we’re on is so magical, it’s a gift from God.”

Upcoming highlights for the band include a Halloween trip to Nashville, and performing at Grinders Switch, the hometown of the comic character Minnie Pearl.

The band can be found on social media under the handle missionroadduo, and their official website is missionroadmusic.com.

Mission Road is available for bookings at all types of events and parties and is currently accepting reservations for 2026. For booking inquiries, individuals can contact Anita at 240-329-7874.
