Maryland State Police are investigating a traffic incident that occurred in Calvert County, resulting in injuries to an 88-year-old woman. The crash involved a vehicle that collided with a commercial building.

The incident took place around 10:29 a.m. in the 300-business block of Market Square in Prince Frederick. Troopers from the Maryland State Police Prince Frederick Barrack responded to the scene after receiving reports of a vehicle that had crashed into a building. According to preliminary findings from the investigation, an 84-year-old male driver was parked in a space directly in front of a business. For reasons not yet determined, the driver’s Toyota Camry suddenly accelerated. The vehicle then mounted a raised curb and impacted the building, striking a woman who was inside.
The injured pedestrian, identified as an 88-year-old female, was transported by ambulance to the University of Maryland Capital Regional Medical Center to receive treatment for her injuries. The driver of the Toyota Camry, an 84-year-old male, reportedly sustained no injuries in the collision. The Maryland State Police Crash Team is currently leading the ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding this crash.
