More than 60,000 Alfa Romeo Giulia and Stelvio vehicles are being recalled by Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) due to a defect that could prevent the rearview camera from displaying an image during backing maneuvers. The issue stems from a printed circuit board defect and/or a software defect within the radio system. This malfunction could potentially increase the risk of a crash, as drivers may not have a clear view of their surroundings when reversing. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has assigned recall number 25V667 to this campaign.

The recall specifically affects certain 2020-2025 model year Alfa Romeo Giulia vehicles manufactured between August 6, 2019, and March 12, 2025, with approximately 25,948 units potentially involved. Additionally, the recall covers certain 2020-2025 model year Alfa Romeo Stelvio vehicles produced between August 2, 2019, and March 14, 2025, impacting an estimated 36,962 vehicles. While the total number of potentially affected vehicles is 62,910, it is estimated that only about 1% of these vehicles will actually exhibit the defect.
The defect involves a printed circuit board obstruction or software stability issues that can cause the rearview camera display to show a blank, black, blue, or inverted screen instead of the expected image. This noncompliance with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 111, which mandates that the rear visibility system default to displaying the rearview image at the start of each backing event, poses a safety risk. No warning lights or indicators are provided to alert drivers to this malfunction. The suspect component is the radio’s display monitor, and the supplier for this part is Marelli.
FCA US will be conducting a voluntary safety recall to address this issue. The remedy will involve inspecting the radio. If the radio fails inspection, it will be replaced with a unit containing the latest software. If the radio passes inspection, a software update will be applied. Owners of affected vehicles are advised not to drive their vehicles and to park them outside until the necessary repairs are completed.
Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) will begin notifying dealers about the recall on or about October 14, 2025. Owners will start receiving notification letters regarding the recall on or about November 25, 2025. A phased recall is planned for the remedy. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) will be searchable for recall status beginning October 14, 2025. FCA US utilizes a general reimbursement plan on file for eligible expenses.
