Weissmann’s career includes significant experience within the state’s legislative and executive branches, as well as local government. Most recently, he held the position of vice president of government relations and community affairs at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. In this role, he was instrumental in fostering relationships with policymakers and securing essential funding for the university. Prior to this, Weissmann dedicated over a decade to the Maryland State Senate. During his tenure, he served as chief of staff to multiple Senate presidents, overseeing policy and personnel matters. His responsibilities encompassed a broad range of critical areas, including the state budget, tax policy, and major initiatives in healthcare and education.
His public service also includes a role as assistant chief administrative officer for Montgomery County. In this capacity, Weissmann was involved in coordinating economic development efforts and acted as a direct liaison for several county departments. These departments covered areas such as environmental protection, housing and community affairs, permitting services, and transportation, demonstrating his broad understanding of governmental operations. Weissmann’s educational background includes a law degree from the University of Baltimore School of Law. He also holds a master’s degree in social work from the University of Maryland, Baltimore, and a bachelor’s degree in psychology and social work from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. This academic foundation complements his practical experience in public administration and policy.
