The recalled items include Tru Fru Freeze Dried Strawberries in Dark & White Chocolate and Tru Fru Freeze Dried Strawberries & Crème. The potential presence of hard or sharp foreign objects like metal in food can lead to physical harm, including injuries to the mouth, tongue, throat, stomach, and intestines, as well as dental damage. To date, there have been no reports of injuries or illnesses associated with this recall.
The recall was initiated after a consumer brought the issue to the company’s attention. The affected products were distributed nationwide through various retail channels, including major chains such as Albertson’s, CVS, Food Lion, H-E-B, Hungryroot, Ingles Markets, Kroger, Stew Leonard’s, and Target, as well as online retailers. Consumers should check the back of their Tru Fru freeze-dried product packaging for a 10-digit manufacturing code. The first four digits or letters of this code will help identify if the product is part of the recall. Specific lot codes for the affected products are detailed in accompanying tables.
The recall specifically targets certain lots of Tru Fru Freeze Dried Strawberries in Dark & White Chocolate in 3.4 oz, 1.7 oz, and 13 oz sizes, and Tru Fru Freeze Dried Strawberries & Crème in a 3.4 oz size. Any Tru Fru products not listed in the recall notice or with manufacturing codes outside of the specified ranges are not affected.
Tru Fru, LLC is coordinating with retailers to remove the recalled products from store shelves. Consumers who have purchased the identified products are advised to discard them and refrain from consumption.
