According to information presented in court, officers were granted entry into the home by the resident. Upon entering, they discovered Arnold asleep with a handgun situated nearby. Following his apprehension, a subsequent search of the premises led to the discovery and seizure of a backpack containing ammunition. Arnold’s prior convictions for assault and grand larceny render him legally prohibited from owning firearms. Assistant U.S. Attorney Eleanor Hurney led the prosecution for the government in this case, with investigative efforts provided by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the West Virginia State Police. U.S. District Judge Gina M. Groh presided over the sentencing.
