The Humane Society of Washington County (HSWC) is actively investigating a disturbing case of aggravated animal cruelty in the Boonsboro area, with a substantial reward being offered for information that leads to the apprehension and prosecution of those responsible. The investigation centers on the injury or death of seven cats, with evidence suggesting they were targeted with steel razor-tip blowgun darts. Residents and businesses located in and around the vicinity of Park Hall Road and Amos Reeder Road in Boonsboro are being urged to assist with the investigation by reviewing security camera footage. Authorities are specifically requesting that individuals check any recordings from September 6, 2025, onwards. The HSWC is seeking footage that may capture unusual or suspicious activity, which could prove vital to identifying those responsible for the attacks on the felines. Anyone possessing such video evidence is asked to submit it via email to twiles@hswcmd.org or casetips@hswcmd.org. The organization emphasizes that any piece of information, no matter how small it may seem, could contribute significantly to resolving the case.
As a precautionary measure, the HSWC strongly advises all residents in the affected area to keep their cats and other pets indoors during this period. This recommendation aims to protect animals from further harm while the investigation progresses. The Humane Society expressed gratitude for the community’s ongoing support in their efforts to identify, charge, and successfully prosecute the individual or individuals responsible for these cruel acts.
