Investigators pieced together the crime following Morrison’s apprehension. After entering the bank and demanding money, Morrison fled the scene on foot. He was observed discarding his mask and other potential evidence into a nearby dumpster. Law enforcement officers were able to recover these items, and DNA analysis from the mask provided a crucial match to Morrison. His criminal history, which includes prior convictions for armed bank robbery, robbery, and access device fraud, was also a factor in the sentencing. The prosecution was handled by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Clayton Reid and Carly Nogay. This case was a collaborative effort involving the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the West Virginia State Police, and the Wheeling Police Department.
