This coordinated surge resulted in a substantial number of arrests, with 617 individuals taken into custody. The seized illicit substances included staggering quantities of deadly drugs, such as 480 kilograms of fentanyl powder, over 714,000 counterfeit pills, 2,209 kilograms of methamphetamine, and 7,469 kilograms of cocaine. The operation also yielded the confiscation of 55 kilograms of heroin, along with over $11.1 million in currency and more than $1.6 million in seized assets. Law enforcement also recovered 420 firearms during the operation, highlighting the violent nature of the criminal networks targeted.
The Sinaloa Cartel, designated as a Foreign Terrorist Organization by the Trump Administration in February, represents a significant threat to public safety, health, and national security in the United States. The cartel is known to have tens of thousands of members and associates operating in at least 40 countries worldwide, involved in the production, manufacturing, distribution, and trafficking of synthetic drugs. This operation reflects the DEA’s commitment to dismantling the cartel’s command, control, and distribution networks through enhanced enforcement, intelligence gathering, and both domestic and international collaboration. The DEA views this surge as a critical step in confronting the ongoing fentanyl crisis and protecting American communities from the devastating impact of these illicit substances.
The DEA is working in conjunction with the Homeland Security Task Force and other federal partners as part of a broader governmental strategy to combat designated terrorist organizations and transnational organized crime. This integrated approach aims to ensure that current and future operations effectively degrade the operational capacity of groups like the Sinaloa Cartel. The results of this surge demonstrate the DEA’s dedication to safeguarding the American public by disrupting the flow of dangerous drugs and removing the financial resources that fuel these criminal enterprises.
