The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has issued a critical safety warning for Aeiusny 400W and 500W portable power stations, advising consumers to immediately cease using these devices. The commission has identified a serious hazard where the internal lithium-ion battery can explode and ignite, presenting a significant risk of fire, serious injury, or even death. The CPSC has documented 24 reports of fires and explosions linked to these power stations, with incidents resulting in three reported cases of smoke inhalation and burns requiring medical attention. Additionally, ten reports detail property damage totaling approximately $450,000.

The affected Aeiusny power stations, manufactured in China by Shenzhen Yuanzhao E-Commerce Co., Ltd., are characterized by their yellow and black coloring with the “Aeiusny” brand name printed on the side. Consumers can identify the specific wattage, either 400W or 500W, by consulting their user manual or purchase receipt. These products were available for purchase on Amazon from July 2016 through September 2022, with prices reaching up to $420. The manufacturer has reportedly been unresponsive to CPSC’s requests for a product recall or any related safety information.

Consumers are strongly urged to take immediate action and properly dispose of these hazardous Aeiusny power stations. The CPSC emphasizes that these defective lithium-ion batteries should not be discarded in regular household trash, general recycling bins, or standard used battery recycling boxes commonly found in retail locations. Due to their heightened fire risk, defective lithium-ion batteries require specialized disposal procedures. It is recommended that consumers contact their local municipal household hazardous waste (HHW) collection center to inquire about acceptance of defective lithium-ion batteries or devices. Before transporting the product, consumers should confirm with the HHW center that they accept such items. If the local center cannot accommodate the disposal, the CPSC advises consumers to seek further guidance from their municipality.

For those who have experienced a safety incident involving these products, the CPSC encourages reporting through SaferProducts.gov, a platform designed for consumers to share information about dangerous products and related injuries.
