Triumph Motorcycles America, Ltd. is initiating a recall for its 2024-2025 Daytona 660 motorcycles, impacting a total of 1,929 units manufactured between January 2, 2024, and December 2, 2024. According to the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Recall Report 25V531, the recall addresses a defect that can lead to engine damage and potential loss of functionality.

The primary concern identified in the recall is insufficient lubrication within the crankshaft and bearing assembly. This issue is reportedly triggered by air entering the oil system during aggressive deceleration, which can cause pressure drops and disrupt the flow of oil. This condition can lead to premature engine deterioration and, in severe cases, a complete loss of functionality, potentially increasing the risk of a crash, particularly during demanding driving conditions. Triumph has stated that there are no discernible warning signs that precede this malfunction.
The recall stems from customer complaints, field reports, and warranty claims. The manufacturer first received a warranty claim on July 17, 2024, and subsequently raised an 8D report and a Special Production Defect (SPD) report on December 12, 2024. The decision to issue a recall was made on December 8, 2025. The manufacturer has reported zero fatalities and zero injuries related to this defect, although there have been 13 consumer complaints, 27 field reports, and 18 warranty claims.
To address the defect, Triumph Motorcycle dealers will perform a repair that involves increasing the engine oil capacity and installing a redesigned dipstick. This modification is intended to ensure more accurate oil level measurement and mitigate the lubrication issue. Controlled testing has shown that increasing the oil levels, as outlined in the remedy, effectively resolves the problem, with no observed pressure drops and stable engine performance. The manufacturer believes this correction will fully mitigate the defect.
Owners of the affected Daytona 660 models are advised not to drive the motorcycles and to park them outdoors until the necessary repairs can be made. Triumph plans to notify dealers by September 14, 2025, and will begin a phased recall to notify owners about the remedy starting September 17, 2025. The VIN range for the affected motorcycles will be searchable on September 14, 2025. Triumph has requested an exemption from providing a reimbursement plan for pre-notification failures, asserting that any such issues would have been handled under the manufacturer’s limited warranty.
