According to Ford Motor Company’s Part 573 Safety Recall Report, a significant number of 2020-2022 Lincoln Corsair vehicles are being recalled due to a defect that can cause the rearview camera to display intermittent, blurry, foggy, or hazy images when the vehicle is in reverse. This issue, identified as NHTSA Recall No. 25V510, affects approximately 41,875 vehicles. The defect stems from corrosion on the rearview camera harness and connector, which is caused by water intrusion due to an uninsulated “drain” or ground wire within the camera system.

The safety risk associated with this defect is a reduced ability for the driver to see behind the vehicle, potentially increasing the likelihood of a crash. Ford became aware of this issue on June 12, 2025, when it was brought to their Critical Concern Review Group. This investigation was initiated while reviewing another safety recall concerning rearview camera issues on the same model years. Through a review of warranty claims, owner questionnaires, and the vehicle’s design, Ford determined that the problem specifically affects vehicles equipped with an analog rearview camera, as those with 360-degree camera systems utilize a different wiring design that does not incorporate the problematic uninsulated ground wire. Ford has not identified this concern in any other vehicle lines.
Further investigation, including vacuum testing conducted in July 2025, confirmed that the bare wire is indeed a contributing factor to the rearview camera image quality problems. Ford has received 316 warranty claims related to camera wiring issues, with 267 of those claims specifically mentioning corrosion or water intrusion. The first claim related to this issue was filed on March 26, 2020. While Ford is aware of these issues, the company states it is not aware of any reported accidents or injuries directly resulting from this specific condition.
Ford is implementing a remedy that involves replacing the affected rearview camera harness and the rearview camera itself. This service will be provided to owners at no cost. The replacement harness will feature an insulated drain wire, which is designed to prevent water from entering the camera connector and causing corrosion. Owners will be notified by mail regarding the recall. Dealerships are scheduled to be notified on August 8, 2025. Interim owner notification letters are expected to be mailed between August 18 and August 22, 2025, with remedy owner notification letters to follow from December 15 to December 19, 2025. Vehicle identification numbers (VINs) for affected vehicles will be searchable starting August 8, 2025, allowing owners to check their vehicle’s status.
