According to NASA, four astronauts safely returned to Earth on Saturday, concluding the agency’s 10th commercial crew rotation mission to the International Space Station (ISS). The SpaceX Crew Dragon Endurance, carrying NASA astronauts Anne McClain and Nichole Ayers, JAXA astronaut Takuya Onishi, and Roscosmos cosmonaut Kirill Peskov, landed in the Pacific Ocean near San Diego at 11:33 a.m. EDT after spending seven months in orbit. This marks the first time a NASA Commercial Crew Program mission has splashed down in the Pacific off California.

The Crew-10 mission began on March 14 with a launch from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida and docked to the ISS roughly 29 hours later. Over the course of their mission, the crew orbited Earth 2,368 times, traveling nearly 62.8 million miles. Ayers and Peskov completed their first spaceflights, while McClain and Onishi now total 352 and 263 days in space respectively across their missions.
During their stay, astronauts supported hundreds of hours of scientific research, including studies on plant growth in microgravity, the impact of space radiation on DNA, and the effects of weightlessness on human vision and cellular structure. McClain and Ayers also performed a spacewalk on May 1 to relocate a communications antenna and prepare for future solar array installation — the third spacewalk for McClain and the first for Ayers.

After recovery at sea, the crew will return to shore before traveling to NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston for medical evaluations and reunions with family. The mission’s completion paves the way for ongoing ISS operations, with Crew-11 already docked since August 2 to continue research efforts. NASA’s Commercial Crew Program, in partnership with SpaceX and other private companies, aims to maintain reliable astronaut transport to the ISS while supporting long-term plans for missions to the Moon and Mars.
