We know you value local news and entertainment that is free, open, and independent. Producing high-quality, paywall-free content isn't free. It takes time, effort, and resources to keep you informed and entertained. Unlike corporate media, we don’t have deep-pocketed investors or big advertisers funding our work—we rely on you, our readers and listeners, to keep Radio Free Hub City running. The map compiles submissions from residents and input gathered during community workshops. These contributions help locate and document both well-known and informal cultural sites—such as arts organizations, historic venues, cultural businesses, and other gathering places. The goal is to strengthen the city’s understanding of what cultural resources currently exist, where they are lacking, and how best to support them moving forward.
City officials say the data will play a key role in shaping future investments in arts and culture. It will help prioritize preservation efforts, guide funding decisions, and support strategies to prevent cultural displacement. The mapping project also lays the groundwork for longer-term planning to maintain and enhance the community’s cultural identity.
